The four levels

Four levels of AI adoption, in short.

Most businesses sit on level one or two. The hours come back on level three.

  1. Level 01

    Ad hoc

You ask ChatGPT or Claude when you remember to. A smarter search bar. Nothing connects.

  2. Level 02

    Daily tool

AI all day, but by hand. Prompt, copy, paste, repeat. Every output moves because you move it.

  3. Level 03

    Owning an agent

Connected to your tools and your second brain. It prepares repeated work on schedule. You review and approve.

  4. Level 04

    AI infrastructure

Several agents hand work to one another across the business, from one shared memory. You set the goals and approve what matters.

Questions

About the check.

How is my level worked out?

Each answer matches one of the four levels. Your level is the average of your ten answers, so one advanced habit doesn’t lift you a whole level on its own, and one gap doesn’t drop you either.

Are my answers saved?

The check runs in your browser, and nothing you click is sent to us. If you ask for the PDF or the free analysis, we keep what you type in that form, because that’s how we deliver it. Like the rest of the site, the page counts visits with Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, as the privacy policy explains.

Where do the four levels come from?

They’re the framework Keith Loh, SCALR’s founder, uses to explain AI adoption: ad hoc use, AI as a daily tool, owning an agent, and AI infrastructure, where several agents work with one another. SCALR runs on level four, and the full article explains each level with examples.

Which level should my business aim for?

Start with level three. That’s where AI prepares the repeated work from your own business memory while people approve the decisions, and it’s where most of the hours come back. Level four is where the gains compound, once several agents hand work to one another.
