/brag: The Free Skill That Turns Your Project Into a Launch Video
/brag is a free, open-source skill for Claude Code that reads your project and renders a short launch video with music, motion and share copy. What it makes, the exact install commands, what you need on your computer, and what it really costs to run.
You finish building something, a website, an app, a side project, and then comes the part nobody enjoys: figuring out how to show it to the world. A screen recording looks flat, and hiring someone to make a launch video can cost more than the project did.
Someone open-sourced a fix for that. It's called /brag, and it's a free skill for Claude Code that reads your project and renders a short launch video with music, motion and a caption to post with it. It had more than 17,000 stars on GitHub on 20 October.

What does /brag actually make?
Its README puts it in one line: "You built it. Now brag." You run one command inside your project, and /brag works out the story itself: the product angle, the tone, and which moments are worth showing. It then hands that brief to a video engine called Hyperframes, which builds, times and renders the video.
What you get back is a folder called brag-output/ with the plan, a short brief, the share copy and the finished brag.mp4. The videos run about 20 seconds.
The repo ships with a few fake demo sites so you can see what it does. My favourite is a dating app for horses:

And here's a frame from the launch video /brag made for it, with no editing on top:

That's the part I like, because instead of just recording your screen it picks the line worth saying and builds a little scene around it, which is where I'd expect most people to get stuck making their own.
What do you need before you install it?
The README lists four requirements:
- An agent that supports skills. Claude Code is the main one. It also works with Codex, opencode, Cursor, Gemini CLI and others.
- Node.js 22 or newer.
- FFmpeg installed and on your PATH. It's the free tool most video software uses under the hood.
- The Hyperframes command line tool. You run it with
npx hyperframes, andnpx hyperframes doctorchecks it's working.
If you've never installed Node or FFmpeg before, budget some time for that part. The skill itself is the easy bit.
How do you install /brag in Claude Code?
Inside Claude Code, run these two lines:
/plugin marketplace add latent-spaces/brag
/plugin install brag@brag
For any other agent, the README gives one command through the skills installer:
npx skills add https://github.com/latent-spaces/brag --skill brag
Add -g to the end if you want it available in every project instead of just the one you're in.
How do you use it?
Open your project, then ask your agent:
let's /brag
You can steer the tone with a flag. The README's own example is /brag --tone "fake Series A launch from 2016". Voiceover is off by default, and /brag --voice turns it on.
There's also a lighter version, /brag-slim, rebuilt for Claude's Opus 5.5 model. It skips Hyperframes and the bundled assets, and if you're running Opus 5.5, /brag switches to it on its own. Run /brag --full if you'd rather keep the original workflow.
What does it really cost?
The skill is free and open source under the MIT licence. The catch is where it runs. /brag runs inside an AI agent, and if you use it the way I would, through Claude Code, you need a paid Claude plan.

On Claude's pricing page, Pro includes Claude Code and starts at $17 a month. Rendering a video also uses some of your plan's usage, so don't plan on making fifty of them in an afternoon.
If you'd rather not install anything, the same team runs letsbrag.app. You paste your site's link and it makes the 20-second video for you. The README describes it as "No setup, no subscription."
Who should skip it?
If you're launching a physical product or a service, /brag isn't for you. It reads a code project, so it needs something it can open and look at, like a website or an app. It also won't replace a proper brand video for a big launch. What it does well is the small, frequent moments: you shipped a feature, you finished a side project, you want something better than a screenshot for LinkedIn.
For those, it's a good first draft, and the skill itself costs nothing. If you want to see how far you can push AI video beyond this, I wrote about every stage my AI runs to edit my reels.
